hi!
I have a nice rack in my box. I'm using it for copying larg data on my primary hdd in my box. My Q is it ok if i plug in the rack (with a hdd in) while my box is running? Will I be experiences any strange problem? I better ask 1st, because i don't won't to mess up my fine configured gentoo

If it's an IDE hard drive, you probably don't want to do that. IDE is not hot-swppable/hot-plugable by default, and unless you have a controller and drive rack that adds that functionality, your hardware won't support it, and you could wind up damaging the drive or controller.
If it's SCA SCSI, there're probably a few kernel options and utilities you need to support hot-plugging the drive, but the hardware itself shouldn't pose a problem. |
