|
|
After moving to GCC 4.1.1 and GLIBC 2.4.3, and after doing an total system and world rebuild, I find that Sylpheed 2.2.6 now segfaults on certain operations (i.e trying to compose a new message, using my mouse to select parts of texts in messages). Is anybody else experiencing problems with Sylpheed? All of my other apps works just fine.
Any ideas (apart from upgrading to 2.2.7?) Thanks. _________________ Cheers,

Same problem here with sylpheed-claws 2.3.0 and 2.4.0. I get a segfault when trying to reply to a mail, both using the keyboard shortcut and the 'Reply' button.
Reemerging didn't help, and the same problem occurs when starting the program with a fresh account (ie. I moved the config dir out of the way and the program created a new one).
On a related note, wmmixer doesn't start after the gcc/glibc update, complaining "XpmError: XpmOpenFailed".
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hmm. Seeing as both projects share some common code, it's quite likely there's a bug in the way it handles GTK/X11 events that's been exposed by building with GCC 4.1.1. Have you filed a bug report? I shall file one for Sylpheed. _________________ Cheers,

All right, I filed a report in the claws bugzillla. Let's hope there's a resolution soon, I wouldn't want to switch to another client
Oh, and I noticed I get the crash when marking text, as well, just like you.

I've just found that 2.2.7 crashes as well. But I also noticed that some other packages had their CFLAGS forced to -O2 from -O3, so I'm recompiling with -O2. _________________ Cheers,

That made no difference with compiler flags. _________________ Cheers,

If you switch back to GCC 3.4.6 and recompile the GTK libraries, the problem goes away. I think GCC 4.1.1 miscompiles something deep in the GTK Libraries. I'm using GTK 2.8.19. _________________ Cheers,
