Allright here it goes:
I want to use Yahoo messenger voice chat thru vmware on my gentoo box(home machine). Now this box is connected to another gentoo box(my office box) running squid proxy.
Yahoo voice chat needs to connect to vc.yahoo.com at UDP,TCP between ports 5000-5010. The Vmware box connects to the host gentoo box thru NAT.
So what options do i have to use my vmware box connect to vc.yahoo.com thru my office computer? Here are which i can think off:
1. Use transparent proxying between my Office computer and Home computer, but this would require putting a extra ethernet card on my office box.
2. Use a socks server, I dont know anything about this.
So what ideas do you people have? Networking gurus please help. I cant use Gnome Meeting becoz i need to talk to my dad who knows nothing except yahoo messenger(leave aside windoz or linux).
Happy Gentoo Hacking!! |

On the Yahoo Question :
I have Y! Messenger running in vmware under gentoo., It connects to the host box using NAT. and the host box connects to the internet through NAT as well (iptables). It works perfectly well without any modifications.
I'm not sure about getting it to work through Nat > proxy though..
Good luck
