Dell Latitude and SMC 8036TX

Hello everyone. I'm having difficulties getting gentoo to recognize my pcmcia nic.
I know the SMC 8036TX works under linux. I'm using it right now under RedHat.
I've tried the following:
Remove 'port 0x800-0x8ff' from /etc/pcmcia/config.opts
# insmod pcmcia-core
# insmod tulip
# insmod ds
insert the pcmcia nic
# cardmgr -f
I've done this from both 'gentoo dopcmcia' and the normal gentoo bootup.

Under RedHat lsmod shows:
tulip
yenta_socket
ds
pcmcia_core 0 [ds yenta_socket]

I can't seem to find this yenta_socket module in gentoo.
I'm at a loss...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
