I am trying to emerge GDL, the GNU Data Language (a free version of IDL). After a lot of compiling, it stops with the error
Code:

libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5-20050130/libstdc++.la'

A while ago I performed the upgrade from gcc 3.3 to 3.4, and currently have gcc 3.4.6 installed. I have made sure that I have virtual/libstdc++-3.3 installed.

Why does GDL want the 3.3.5 library? How can I work out if the problem is with the ebuild or with settings on my computer?

Please see this FAQ: Emerge fails after upgrading gcc. libstdc++.la missing.
