I just got my filesystem working (chroot, edit my fstab file) and was excited about emerging some more goodies and now i can't even login

anything i enter for a login results in the same no response. i have rebooted hoping it was just a fluke occurance but no luck there.
The only thing that really looks fishy about this is how it says unknown_domain but i'm not sure if this has any effect.
one final note, another thing before i rebooted to this problem was i was trying to get my networking to work. i wasn't able to get the net-setup command to work fo rme so i figured a shutdown was in order.
EDIT:
not sure if this matters but i unmerged pam login because it was blocking another login ... i have a sinking feeling this was bad  |

Did you emerge shadow? If not, start up the LiveCD chroot back in and do so.
