I think it'd be a good idea to have a forum exclusively for GNOME 2. What do you think?

I voted no (and not because I'm not using Gnome 2). I think we are getting close to having too
many forums now. People don't search enough as it is. If more people searched, there is a good
chance they would find a thread there "post" belonged in. I know it is very easy to just post
something before searching, but I think that is more of the problem than creating another forum.
I know... I have to remind myself to search sometimes. Though it is becoming close to habbit.

That's true, but if you have read forums (desktop) in the last few days, you couldn't miss that _many_ postes are GNOME2-releted. And if we have a GNOME2 forum, than it will be easier to get an overview, or search just this forum. That's my opinion.

But that's the whole point, people wouldn't need to put up more posts if they knew where to find things. Right now, stuff concerning GNOME 2 could be in "Installing Gentoo", "Desktop Enviroments", "Newbies", "All Things Gentoo", etc...
I think that GNOME 2 is such a Broad topic that is too needs it's own Forum...

This is true. searching for "Gnome 2" could do the same. I think part of this is due to
the fact that Gnome 2 is so new. Gnome (by those that have voted in the unoffical poll)
is a minority Desktop Environment. (I personally use 1.4 now)

I think that is because people tend to post in the first forum they THINK there subject
belongs in. I think it is quite clear that Gnome would fall under "Desktop Environments".
If you look at what forum subtopics are, it becomes fairly clear.

Installing Gentoo
Having problems with installing Gentoo? Have a question regarding the install? Get help here, and welcome to Gentoo.

This one sounds more like the actuall process of installing Gentoo rather than installing
stuff after Gentoo is running.

Hey, it was just an idea. There's no need for y'all to be smartasses about it. If you don't agree, vote NO on the poll and keep your sarcastic comments to yourselves.

I didn't intend to offend you, I just have a sarcastic sense of humor. I apologize.
Jay just hit the head on the nail for what I was trying to explain. There has to be
some limit to the number of forums. There is certainly nothing wrong with asking
for a new one.

No prob... :)

Hey, I've got nothing wrong with people not agreeing with a new idea, but if your going to rebuff something stick to stating facts, opinions, etc... Once you start posting sarcastic comments there's not much discussion left...
