Hi,

this happens when I try to emerge xorg-server-1.1.1 on my sparc:
Code:
In file included from /usr/include/asm/bitops.h:5,
                 from /usr/include/linux/bitops.h:78,
                 from /usr/include/linux/thread_info.h:21,
                 from /usr/include/asm-sparc/system.h:11,
                 from /usr/include/asm/system.h:5,
                 from /usr/include/linux/list.h:7,
                 from /usr/include/linux/wait.h:22,
                 from /usr/include/linux/keyboard.h:21,
                 from xf86KbdLnx.c:170:
/usr/include/asm-sparc/bitops.h:288: error: static declaration of 'ffs' follows non-static declaration
make[5]: *** [xf86KbdLnx.lo] Error 1
make[5]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/xorg-server-1.1.1/work/xorg-server-1.1.1/hw/xfree86/common'
make[4]: *** [all] Error 2

make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/xorg-server-1.1.1/work/xorg-server-1.1.1/hw/xfree86'
make[2]: *** [all] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/xorg-server-1.1.1/work/xorg-server-1.1.1/hw/xfree86'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/xorg-server-1.1.1/work/xorg-server-1.1.1/hw'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

!!! ERROR: x11-base/xorg-server-1.1.1 failed.
Call stack:
  ebuild.sh, line 1543:   Called dyn_compile
  ebuild.sh, line 938:   Called src_compile
  ebuild.sh, line 1252:   Called x-modular_src_compile
  x-modular.eclass, line 330:   Called x-modular_src_make
  x-modular.eclass, line 325:   Called die

Is it the fault of xorg-server or does "/usr/include/asm-sparc/bitops.h:288: error: static declaration of 'ffs' follows non-static declaration" really means, that there's a wrong declaration in bitops.h? bitops.h is a kernel header file, belonging to linux-headers-2.6.11-r6 ...so do we need an update of the header files? 8O

So ...what can I do instead of downgrading gcc?

Fix linux-headers :-)
See, that's one of the reasons gcc4 isn't ~sparc yet...
