Hi,

Trying to perform an emerge -uDp world and I get the following error.

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6" have been masked

Rest of error below.

The problem is that I'm using a 2.4 kernel... Is there away around the problem? Or do I need to install x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev-1.1.2-r1

TIA

!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.17 (masked by: profile, missing keyword)
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.11-r5 (masked by: profile, missing keyword)
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.11-r4 (masked by: profile)
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.11-r6 (masked by: profile)
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.11-r3 (masked by: profile, ~sparc keyword)
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.11-r2 (masked by: profile, ~sparc keyword)
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.16 (masked by: profile, missing keyword)
- sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.8.1-r4 (masked by: profile, ~sparc keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
(dependency required by "x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev-1.1.2-r1" [ebuild])

Strange, the xf86-input-evdev-1.1.2-r1.ebuild has
Code:
KEYWORDS="alpha ~amd64 arm ~hppa ia64 mips ppc ppc64 sh sparc ~x86"
So it's cleared for sparc, and it has
Code:
DEPEND="${RDEPEND}
        || ( >=sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6 >=sys-kernel/mips-headers-2.6 )

It looks like none of the mips-headers or the 2.6 kernel headers are cleared for the sparc.

I think this is a bug (of course I could be wrong, that happened once ....)

Please see https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-492923-highlight-.html

Is anyone else out there still running 2.4 on SPARC?

Has anyone else encountered a problem with xf86-input-evdev?

TIA

Moved from Portage & Programming to Gentoo on Sparc.

[mod]This thread should have been made on Gentoo on Sparc on the first place![/mod]

w.hill,
please read the guidelines again. You should never crosspost on the forums. If you need to move a thread to another forum, please ask here.

By the way, if you look at /usr/portage/sys-kernel/sparc-sources, you should notice that there's no ebuild there for a 2.6 kernel - at least there's none here with an up to date Portage tree.

My e250 is running the latest 2.4 kernel and has the same problem. I would be happy to post whatever might be helpful.
