I'm on acer aspire 3620, a single drop from about 20cm(with the rugged bag that came with it) cracked the side of the laptop, a few drops of water leaking from the aircon spoilt the motherboard, heh, acer laptop sucks, only attractive thing is that their price, and all "working"s for linux. _________________ "Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Since you asked , I **really** love my fujitsu p7010 lifebook (centrino 1.1ghz,
512mb, 120gb 5400rpm drive, cdrw/dvd (onboard), 1280x768 10.6" screen,
pc card slots, card reader, s-video, vga, usb, firewire, sl-modem, ethernet
wireless-g, 8hr battery life (with modular battery replacing cd drive), 3.3 lbs
total weight with modular battery)
Everything works under gentoo except the card reader (totally unsupportable
apparently). Hibernation perfect, suspend to ram perfect, undervolting so nice
and cool and quiet.
For travel, I don't see why anyone would use any other computer (of course,
the p7010 is long obsolete but the newer lifebook p's don't seem as nice
to me ...) _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

Brand doesn't matter these times (remember Sony batteries fiasco? almost every laptop brand got this shit). Everything is made in Taiwan/China anyway. Probably in the same factories as well. Buy the one with longest warranty in the standard configuration. _________________ [HOWTO]New freetype subpixel font rendering for lcd monitors |

not limited to laptops, its probably the fundamental problem of the battery:

To those of you with a Thinkpad T43... would you care to post your exact configs: kernel flavor + version + config, /etc/hibernate files, kernel commandline, xorg.conf? I have been unable to get suspend to disk and suspend to RAM to work reliably.
Thanks. |
