hi

I was looking for something to open PPS files and I didn't want to have open office installed just for PPS files so I found this java program. All you have to do is run
Code:
 java -jar tonicpoint.jar

and within this application you can view pps files - works like a charm!

The application can be found here:
http://downloads.tonicsystems.com/viewer/tonicpoint.jar :D

Hope someone finds it useful!

PS let all your linux buddies now! hehe

Cheers
Shelton.

There is no feedback, so I will add mine!

It does a good job, thanks for sharing. Very useful, indeed.

The app is fantasic but not free/open source. What we need instead is a filter that can turn powerpoint into PDF etc. This could then be used in scripts or to open the file in evince.

If someone with C++ skills could grab the relevant code out of OpenOffice then we could open powerpoint files on Linux without having to install a quarter of a Gigabyte of OpenOffice.

It is free of charge (for non commercial use), that is already good. Most places where you need to play powerpoint have an MS licence. Problem is when you are forced to use it...

Not free "as in speech", I cannot use it for ethical and legal reasons, please read: http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html

I found a solution, the package xlhtml (emerge xlhtml) has a command called ppthtml which turns powerpoint to HTML.
