hi,
kcron works under gnome but have a lot of kde dependencies...
I use gnome-scheduler, that is very good and easy, but i think there isn't a ebuild for it (maybe checking bugzilla...)

Alright I've installed both. They both look fairly simple. Anyone have a preference? Or am I wasting time playing with GUI's when I could just be doing it all by the command line?

well, i suppose they look simple cause they do a simple thing, create the cron files... So maybe the best approach was the command line and some basic text editor.
But, in my case, i hate the "syntax" of cron and its scheme of location/time is very confusing to my brain. Thats the 2 things i always prefer GUIs, diffs and cron files, but those are personal aversions of course... from reading the output of kcron or schedule one easily undersand and get used to.
Oh, and i think that gnome-schedule has a better control and definition of time schedulers. As an example i don't know if you can only with kcron add something that runs everyminute (min is 5 min, if i remember well)

Yeah it is 5 minutes. Which isn't that big of a deal I suppose.
I think I was just expecting more out of a cron GUI, like maybe there's a lot more to cron that I don't know about.
Oh well, I appreciate the help. I do like gnome-scheduler better than kcron so far too. It runs much smoother on this old P3.
