ok so I was following the bonding guide: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Setup_Bonded_ethernet_adapters then I realized that eth1 is a 1394 not usb. My router has usb but no 1394.......so I'm wondering is it even possible to set up a bond between usb and on-board nic ? or should I just slap another nic in and go that way? or is there a usb to 1394 adapter? if so then how do I go about getting usb network setup, since my system is only seeing eth0 = on-board nic and eth1 =1394, and nothing else. This is not a crucial concern for me. I've just never set up a bond before and thought I'd give it a go for my personal development
UPDATE:well it seems my router will not use the usb and RJ45's at the same time so it's not an option anyway........which would also explain why it wasn't detected.....I did stumble across an adapter that plugs into a usb port and you plug an RJ45 into that so I may give that a try so I don't have to take up a pci slot with another nic card.......Anyway, my appologies for being a gimp and not checking everything before posting |

Are you trying the bonding thing just for fun or for something real? Just wondering... (not that I have any real input though, sorry! ) |
