I've worked around a number of compile fails. Heaps actually. But this one brings me straight to a post.
the package is qjackctl.
here is the foiled compile.

Code:

Now type 'make', followed by 'make install' as root.

make[1]: Entering directory `/var/tmp/portage/qjackctl-0.2.17/work/qjackctl-0.2.17'
make[1]: warning: jobserver unavailable: using -j1.  Add `+' to parent make rule.
/usr/qt/3/bin/uic src/qjackctlMessagesForm.ui -o src/qjackctlMessagesForm.h
/usr/qt/3/bin/uic src/qjackctlStatusForm.ui -o src/qjackctlStatusForm.h
/usr/qt/3/bin/uic src/qjackctlConnectionsForm.ui -o src/qjackctlConnectionsForm.h
/usr/qt/3/bin/uic src/qjackctlPatchbayForm.ui -o src/qjackctlPatchbayForm.h
/usr/qt/3/bin/uic src/qjackctlMainForm.ui -o src/qjackctlMainForm.h
/usr/qt/3/bin/uic src/qjackctlSocketForm.ui -o src/qjackctlSocketForm.h
/usr/qt/3/bin/uic src/qjackctlSetupForm.ui -o src/qjackctlSetupForm.h
/usr/qt/3/bin/uic src/qjackctlAboutForm.ui -o src/qjackctlAboutForm.h

etc....

and soon

/usr/qt/3/bin/uic src/qjackctlConnectionsForm.ui -i qjackctlConnectionsForm.h -o src/qjackctlConnectionsForm.cpp
i686-pc-linux-gnu-g++ -c -pipe -Wall -W -march=athlon-xp -pipe -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -D_REENTRANT  -DQT_NO_DEBUG -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT -DQT_SHARED -DQT_TABLET_SUPPORT -I/usr/qt/3/mkspecs/linux-g++ -I. -Isrc -I/usr/qt/3/include -o q jackctlConnectionsForm.o src/qjackctlConnectionsForm.cpp
src/qjackctlConnectionsForm.cpp:21:33: qjackctlconnectview.h: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** [qjackctlConnectionsForm.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/qjackctl-0.2.17/work/qjackctl-0.2.17'
make: *** [qjackctl] Error 2

and sure enough

[code]

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   4417 Jan 11  2005 qjackctlJackConnect.h
[/code]

which way did it go????
so what should I do?  Copy and paste from kubuntu??
!!! ERROR: media-sound/qjackctl-0.2.17 failed.
Call stack:
  ebuild.sh, line 1539:   Called dyn_compile
  ebuild.sh, line 939:   Called src_compile
  ebuild.sh, line 609:   Called die

I may be wrong, (now don't all ruch) but it appears as if the package is referring to a header
qjackctlconnectview.h
which is not there.
