Can the forum team consider having DejaVu Sans Mono or Bitstream Vera Sans Mono as the font of choice for displaying fixed-width characters, instead of Courier or Courier New (which are too small & hurt my eyesight)?
Update: The problem seems to be related to Firefox because Opera replaces the font properly. _________________ CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo

You can tell Firefox to not let webpages used their own fonts too. Edit->Preferences->Fonts and Colors->Advanced _________________ "May God stands between you and harm in all the empty places where you must walk" - Babylon 5 |

I know that option. I had been comfortable with the previous condition until my local.conf stopped working due to the fontconfig update.
Link regarding my post about local.conf that has been malfunctioning all of sudden. _________________ CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo

I was browsing the css template that the forum uses, and I stumbled across these lines below.
Code: | .code
{
BORDER-RIGHT: #d1d7dc 1px solid;
BORDER-TOP: #d1d7dc 1px solid;
FONT-SIZE: 11px;
BORDER-LEFT: #d1d7dc 1px solid;
COLOR: #006600;
BORDER-BOTTOM: #d1d7dc 1px solid;
FONT-FAMILY: Courier, 'Courier New', monospace;
BACKGROUND-COLOR: #fafafa
} |
I'm wondering if the admin could modify the file by inserting other nicer fonts, such as DejaVu Sans Mono or Bitstream Vera Sans Mono before Courier. Maybe I'm asking too much. _________________ CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo

I think it would be better if they could just specify the generic font names (serif, sans-serif, monospace) and let the user configure their client to display a chosen font. the same thing for font sizes. One way to change this is use a user stylesheet. This should probably work in other geko based browsers also.
~/.mozilla/firefox/<salted.profname>/chrome/userContent.css: | @-moz-document
url-prefix(http://forums.gentoo.org/),
url-prefix(https://forums.gentoo.org/) {
td.code {
font-family: monospace !important;
color: black !important;
}
} |

Agreed. Courier & Courier New are poor font choice. _________________ CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo
