On my long and arduous quest in search of the holy WLAN, I have encountered a new stumbling block. I have done a completely new install. I use pcmciautils instead of pcmcia-cs. Now dmesg hails me thus: Code: | piix4_smbus 0000:00:07.3: Found 0000:00:07.3 device
cs: memory probe 0x0c0000-0x0fffff: excluding 0xc0000-0xcffff 0xe4000-0xfffff
cs: memory probe 0x60000000-0x60ffffff: clean.
cs: memory probe 0xa0000000-0xa0ffffff: clean.
pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0

orinoco_cs: register_netdev() failed | What do I do wrong? Which driver to use for Orinoco Gold (I have every one that looked remotely feasible built into the kernel)? What else to do, where else to go?
Thanks

Try to see if a knoppix cd can use the wireless card, possibly on another laptop too if you can find one to borrow. If everything gives the same error, there actually might be something screwy about the firmware on the card, and I don't even know how you'd go about reflashing it (I know there are tools though). |

I should have mentioned that I had the card working on this computer already (well almost - see this thread), so I don't think the firmware really is at fault... |

BUMP!
If nobody here has any idea, maybe I should try it in the Kernel & Hardware forum... |
