J'ai une plateforme à base d'AMD64.
J'essaye d'appliquer la procédure suivante.

Le soucis, c'est que j'ai toujours la même erreur de compilation et pas moyen de s'en sortir, même en passant les paquets X.org en testing...

2ème question au passage, les pilotes proprio Nvidia fonctionneront bien avec cette nouvelle version de X.org ? (J'en ai absolument besoin pour activer la sortie TV sur ma GF FX 5200)

bin, ouais, c'est pas très parlant hélas...
ceci dit, j'ai exactement le même genre d"erreur avec d'autre lib lié à X.org genre x11-libs/libXv-1.0.1 ; x11-libs/libXp-1.0.0 ; x11-libs/libXTrap...

Donc je pense qu'il y a un soucis du côté de mon environnement plutot qu'un bug dans les sources de xorg-server

Désolé d'insister mais cette absence de message est tellement inhabituelle ...
Es-tu vraiment certain qu'il n'y a rien entre la dernière ligne de ton fichier

Il te manque des libs, c'est normal que ça compile pas. Ça peut être dû au fait que tu ais essayé une première fois, puis rétrogradé en 6.8, et ensuite réessayé de l'installer, ce qui fait que les libX11, etc. n'ont pas été unmergées et qu'elles ont été écrasées par Xorg 6.8. Du coup, en unmergeant de dernier, ya plus aucune libs, mais portage les considère toujours comme installées. (je suis pas sur d'être clair :lol: ).
Enfin même si c'est pas ton cas, il faut réinstaller ces libs manquantes.

Ce que je te conseille : unmerge toute cette liste (emerge -C $(cat modular-x-packages.txt)) et refait ton emerge xorg-x11, le jeu des dépendances te réinstallera bien tout proprement.

Sinon, vaut mieux suivre le howto officiel que celui du wiki, il a de fortes chances d'être plus complet.

Et pour ton nvidia, oui ne t'inquiète pas, ça marche très bien :)

Ok, au moment ou je perdais espoir, j'ai finis par trouver la solution :)

C'est un bug qui touche l'archi AMD64 : https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138766.

J'ai donc juste fais :

~ # vi /etc/portage/package.keywords

Rajouté la ligne :

>=app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-xlibs-7.0-r1 ~amd64

Puis compiler les 2 lib en question :

 ~ # emerge emul-linux-x86-xlibs emul-linux-x86-baselibs

Et enfin :

 ~ # emerge xorg-x11



Voilà, merci à tous ! Sans quoi, j'en serait resté au X.org 6.8 pendant moult temps.... :(

Par curiosité tu avais des versions stables de emul-linux-x86-xlibs et emul-linux-x86-baselibs au départ quant tu avais toutes ces erreurs de compilations, j'ai regardé ta configuration et à un détail ou deux près on a la même et chez moi la compilation c'est passé sans problème.
