I dont think the inet6 is important but if you dont use it, remove that stuff from you kernel network options.

I googled the xfce menu error (which you obviously did as well before posting ) and found a Ubuntu post with the same problem after changing colordepth in xorg.conf

I seem to remember having a similar prob at one stage but it's a while ago and I cant remember what I did to fix it.

If all else fails post a bug to xfce.org.

Yes, I googled too and found this and this on LinuxQuestion.org, and what is strange is at I have exactly the same kernel on both install,
Code:
# cat config-2.6.16-rt29 | grep IPV6
CONFIG_IPV6=m
# CONFIG_IPV6_PRIVACY is not set
# CONFIG_IPV6_TUNNEL is not set
and the same use flags and version for Xorg. The fact is at Xfce is working fine on one install but not on the other. The only difference I can see is at I start X with kdm on the old install and with xdm on the new one. But I really will get ride of kde in the new one.

I checked with lsmod, and ipv6 is not loaded. I try to load it before starting xdm in the new install, but it make no difference. So I will fill a bug repport. Any suggestion in the maintime?

EDIT:
I get another error after starting ipv6 before xdm:
Code:
(xfdesktop:8536): libxfcegui4-CRITICAL **: netk_workspace_get_number: assertion `NETK_IS_WORKSPACE (space)' failed

again, try googling . I found some stuff on a panel bug on compiz dating back to March that seems to fit the bill.

bug was fixed in libxfcegui4 at that time. Suggest you try svn as above.

I already have done it. I see this panel bug yesterday. They fix it the 2006-03-19, and I installed the svn yesterday. To be sure, I reinstalled both libxfcegui4 and the panel. But it doesn't help.
EDIT: I try a revdep-rebuild too, but it find nothing to do.
EDIT2: It is not only xfce4 related. fluxbox run, but flux-conf segfault, as well as qjackctl and firefox. The terminal in fluxbox work, xmms and alsa mixer work. I see other topics on the forum with strange things related to x with the 2006.1 profile. Maybe a missing dependenciy or a bad configuration somewhere.
