My first postr in this forum, so just in case it was posed in a place where it would witness fewer audiance, I a posting it as a sepate topic.
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-3429760.html#3429760
I am desperate to install Gentoo on my system.
I netbooted and installed everything. I tried to install 7 different kernels, but when I rebooted it either got stuck with the last message "Booting Linux....." in the case of 2.6.X kernels and "Remapping the Kernel.... Done" in the case of 2.4.X kernels.
But I can enter into the system with the netboot option, and install various software packages and use them as well.
Its a real pain to have spent so many sleepless nights configuring the system and ending up with a system that needs super expertize (from the point of view of the users who'll be using it) to boot it up.
I simply hate solaris and don't want to get back to it again, which I'ld be forced to do in case the machine fails to boot by itself.
Please help...
Thanks in advance
Cheers
