Hi, ever since I updated to the latest version od portage as --sync told me I get this weird error while syncing..

Code:

>>> Updating Portage cache:  100%
 * error scanning /etc
 * error scanning /usr/share/X11/xkb

However it's not the biggest problem as it seems that I can't emerge any package, it usually dies on something like

Code:

 * Applying x264-svn-20060302-nostrip.patch ...

 * Failed Patch: x264-svn-20060302-nostrip.patch !
 *  ( /usr/portage/media-libs/x264-svn/files/x264-svn-20060302-nostrip.patch )
 *
 * Include in your bugreport the contents of:
 *
 *   /var/tmp/portage/x264-svn-20060810/temp/x264-svn-20060302-nostrip.patch-10068.out

It also seems, that portage has some problem with find.. the whole thing looks like this:

Code:

gentoo azarro # emerge x264-svn
Calculating dependencies... done!

>>> Emerging (1 of 1) media-libs/x264-svn-20060810 to /
BusyBox v1.1.3 (2006.08.27-21:44+0000) multi-call binary

Usage: find [PATH...] [EXPRESSION]

Search for files in a directory hierarchy.  The default PATH is
the current directory; default EXPRESSION is '-print'

EXPRESSION may consist of:
   -follow      Dereference symbolic links
   -name PATTERN   File name (leading directories removed) matches PATTERN
   -print      Print (default and assumed)

   -type X      Filetype matches X (where X is one of: f,d,l,b,c,...)
   -perm PERMS   Permissions match any of (+NNN); all of (-NNN);
         or exactly (NNN)
   -mtime DAYS   Modified time is greater than (+N); less than (-N);
         or exactly (N) days
   -mmin MINS   Modified time is greater than (+N); less than (-N);
         or exactly (N) minutes
   -newer FILE   Modified time is more recent than FILE's
   -inum N      File has inode number N
   -exec CMD   Execute CMD with all instances of {} replaced by the
         files matching EXPRESSION

 * x264-svn-20060810.tar.bz2 MD5 ;-) ...                                  [ ok ]

I've tried to reemerge portage, emerge --regen && emerge portage, but nothing seems to help..
Does anyone have any idea plz??

thanks

partially solved.. it seems that some weird utils pack called "BusyBox" took over all of the binutils in /bin and it doesn't have the same options as the original ones..
I'm going to try to reemerge binutils and unmerge this BusyBox..

anyone got this experience? :)

busybox is a rescue shell in case bash or coreutils get screwed. Try re-emerging coreutils

do you have any idea when or why it could have merged? right now I'm unmerging busybox and reemergeing binutils.. coreutils seems to work fine (are not symlinked to busybox)

busyjbox is the default rescue shell + coreutils + tar + zip ..... in case bash, tar, zip and progs provided by coreutils die. You should file a bug about this because it is installed on all gentoo systems and shouldnt make symlinks unless you have "make-symlinks" in your USE flags.
