I want to tidy up my system and came across /usr/tmp/portage which has 2,9GB. The folder contains subfolders named after some installed ebuilds. This is quite big for a temporary folder. Can I delete those folders and files? What are they good for? Are there some more tmp folders I should care for? |

As they are overwritten on each install of an already-installed package, they don't serve much of a purpose (except, perhaps, for developers). It's safe to delete it, but only when you're not emerging anything. |
