When I "emerge -va gnome xscreensaver" dbus-0-60-r4 fails and pukes out the following.
Quote:

make[7]: *** [statemachine-client] Error 1
make[6]: *** [all] Error 2
make[5]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[4]: *** [all] Error 2
make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: *** [all] Error 2
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

!!! Error: sys-apps/dbus-0.60-r4 failed.
Call Stack:
ebuild.sh, line 1539 Called: dyn_compile
ebuild.sh, line 939 Called: src_compile
dbus-0.60-r4.ebuild, line 111 Called: die

Is this a bug or is there a work around I haven't found?

PostPosted: Wed Jul 05, 2006 7:10 am    Post subject: emerge dbus and hal Reply with quote

Hello!

I'v done the manual install with just the minimal cd (2006.0), and emerged xorg-x11 into my box.

Now I want KDE, and I want to be able to mount CDROM and USB stick in a single click in the GUI. I'v read on gentoo.org/doc/ne/kde-config.xml that i need to emerge dbus and hal.

I run

# emerge --noreplace dbus hal

But emerge aborts :

Code:
~ $ equery b /usr/lib/libpng12.la
[ Searching for file(s) /usr/lib/libpng12.la in *... ]
media-libs/libpng-1.2.12 (/usr/lib/libpng12.la)

I have no idea why it would want libpng, but that's what supplies the missing file. Try installing that and trying again.

It seems there is a problem with your libpng.
Have you tried to unmerge and emerge libpng again?

If this doesn't work, what's with a revdep-rebuild?

Since I don't have a gui on that machine, I'm using ssh so I can post better info. This looks alot like what was posted earlier. This is the first time I have encountered this problem and I'm not sure what to do. :(
