I have been runing Nagios for a while on a gentoo server. I started with 1.x series and when I upgraded to the next in the 1.x series (1.4.1) I lost the statusmap which was there and I had used previously. I more recently upgraded to nagios 2.5 as soon as it hit the stable branch in portage.

Unfortunately, I thought it might be a temporary breakage but even after the second upgrade to the now 2.x series I still don't have statusmap.cgi.

The file actually isn't on the server.

So I did the following
Code:
emerge -pv nagios nagios-core nagios-imagepack

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R   ] net-analyzer/nagios-2.5  0 kB
[ebuild   R   ] net-analyzer/nagios-core-2.5  USE="apache2 perl -debug -noweb" 0 kB
[ebuild   R   ] net-analyzer/nagios-imagepack-1.0-r1  0 kB

I can't see any USE flags that would cause me to not have this one file when I have the rest of the cgis there and working.

Does anybody know why this is?

Hi All!
Also fell into this trap!
I did a gcc upgrade to 4.1.1 and then emerge -e system and emerge -e world
The world emerge fell over with errors about jpeg USE flag missing and re-emergeing gd
I add the jpeg floag to the make.conf USE line and I did ponder about png but never worried about it!
That was the downfall!
My nagios worked fine except for the missing statusmap cgio!
I even tried manually configuring and make cgi - again no statusmap.cgi! I looked back at the configure messages and all was relealed!
Gd lib had no png support!
I added png to USE, re-emerged gd with --newuse and re-emerged nagios-core. Problem solved! :D

Ah well we all live and learn!
Just upgraded 4 servers to gcc-4.1.1 with system and world updates and other than a few minor glitches (overwritten squid.conf for one) all went well!

Cheers
Ang
