Hi,

I'm trying to get the CD ROM device to be recognised as a SCSI device.
I've compiled 'ide-scsi' as a module and I have placed
Code:
kernel /boot/bzImage.samba root=/dev/hdd4 hdc=ide-scsi

into the grub boot file.

However, I never seem to get the CD ROM recognised as a SCSI device.
The SCSI emulation is working however as it seems to grab my memory stick when I plug it in!

Here is the output from 'dmesg'. I hope someone can help.

YOurs,

Tom

Do you have ide-cdrom support in your kernel. That could be the problem. Either remove it or compile it as a module. Also as well as ide-scsi support you need scsi-cdrom and scsi-generic support. I have all these as modules but I think they should work compiled in. I also have "ide-scsi" in my /etc/modules.autoload" You shouldn't need to pass the "hdc=ide-scsi" option to the kernel, I don't.

Also if you compile ide-cd as a module create the file "/etc/modules.d/cdr" with the following contents
Code:
options ide-cd ignore='hdc'
