When I issue an "emerge -ptu world" command, emerge wants to install the entire gnome desktop on my machine. I'm running Gentoo with KDE, and don't wish to install gnome. Obviously, I've added a use flag or other package which depends on gnome.

My question is, how do I determine what is causing emerge to want to install a new package? How do I determine what is dependent on an uninstalled package without installing it first?
