i was reading the multi-user x documentation and was wondering if anyone has had experience setting up a dual head, dual session x.
i have a laptop that has a vga-out on it, would this be enough to constitute as a second head? _________________

Hi bunder,
I am planning to try the exact same with my dual-head AGP card
as soon as I have time ( and another mice, keyboard set ) to spare.
From what I learned already for a multisession setup
you would need to use something like DMX to have
two sessions displayed on one big session that spans the dualhead screen
because support for separated sessions on dual-head cards is not there.
And for laptops I think every output is sourced by one single GPU chip
so you should be in the same situation.
Anyway I'd like to hear if you make progress there.

I have had some experience with dual head X and it can do some excellent and cool things.
By a Dual session X do you want to have 2 sessions with 2 seperate sets of input devices, or 2 sessions with shared input devices? both can be done.
You will need to find out if you video chipset will work with dual head setup first though. _________________ Admiral Trigger Happy

2 sessions with 2 input sets. i basically want to use my laptop as 2 computers, because i don't need 2 computers for what i use them for.
the card on my laptop is a Mobility Radeon 9600 (M10), if that helps. _________________

Yeah, multiseat X is nice
There is a few howtos floating around for it, but first you will need to find out how to configure your video card to run it.
Which driver are you using for X? _________________ Admiral Trigger Happy
