What is the latest consensus on nvidia, xdm and suspend2

I've gone through the forum search and noticed that hibernating causes some drama with xdm.
I have a problem (among the other things) that after reboot the screen remains black.
I have uncommented nvidia from blacklisted modules /dev/agpgart is not compiled in Kernel
I use Option nvAGP (or whatever it was in xorg.conf) = "1". Some say that "0" would be right but
this switches acceleration of, right? However, some say that it works also with "1" or "3" or whatever? I
did not try this yet - allthough I am not sure I need rendering in my mythtvbox.

There was also some talk about procpageallowance or whatever. I have read about setting it to 7500
and 0 in hibernate.conf. Latter would not powerdown at all and the first one caused then the blackscreen.

So what is the medicine to get it running?

I am also wondering about the version for nvidia drivers. I am now using the ones that come with
portage - did it just change recently to 8762? I believe success reports have been about 8756?
How can one emerge 8756 version?
