@nesl247 Sorry it's my fault, I forgot to uninstall all my ugly cvs hack && ebuild because I couldn't wait ... :oops:

Heu it is possible to rename xgl_pre20060619-r3 into xgl-9999 and keyword it with "-*" because I think it's more an live-git than an snapshot or I may be confuse ...

x11-wm/cgwd-0.2 is working beautifully here. I LOVE pixmaps :D
Transition was smooth.

Can we unmerge gnome-window-decorator now? (using kde)

gnome-window-decorator is NOT a package. It's part of compiz.

Ops, I talked too quickly sorry :oops:

That was what I was referring to. Are there any gnome packages we can remove already?
(I'm not that anxious to unmerge, just to know) :)

Using stable dbus (I think):
sys-apps/dbus-0.61-r1
x11-misc/gcompizthemer-0.18

But I am using an older compiz-quinnstorm:
x11-wm/compiz-quinnstorm-0.0.13.11

This version is the only one working properly on my i915gm (rotation is choppy with later versions)

Using the latest ~x86. And thank you, but it's not just me. CoffeeBuzz and Roderick do a great job.

cgwd: Connection Error (Unable to determine the address of the message bus (try 'man dbus-launch' and 'man dbus-daemon' for help))

Code:
$compiz
compiz: Connection Error (Unable to determine the address of the message bus (try 'man dbus-launch' and 'man dbus-daemon' for help))

Are you using gnome? If not, does: dbus-launch --auto-syntax --exit-with-session cgwd work? Is dbus started? (/etc/init.d/dbus start)

Code:
 ~ # dbus-launch --auto-syntax --exit-with-session
DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS='unix:abstract=/tmp/dbus-4rtQ1T2XR0,guid=2167c44440d5c608698e168addbd1f00';
export DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS;
DBUS_SESSION_BUS_PID=19289;

 ~ # dbus-monitor
Failed to open connection to session message bus: Unable to determine the address of the message bus (try 'man dbus-launch' and 'man dbus-daemon' for help)

 ~ # cgwd
cgwd: Connection Error (Unable to determine the address of the message bus (try 'man dbus-launch' and 'man dbus-daemon' for help))
Segmentation fault

 ~ # dbus-monitor --system
signal sender=org.freedesktop.DBus -> dest=:1.3 interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=NameAcquired

I also tried using kde-misc/kdbus and it's able to monitor the system bus but never the session bus.

Well, dbus version doesn't change anything on my box.
Just upgraded from dbus-0.61-r1 to dbus-0.62 and cgwd doesn't segfault with any version.
Why are you so sure it's dbus related? The guys on the Compiz forum might be wrong...

Because we're getting a dbus error from cgwd, which then segfaults. It's not unreasonable to think the two may be connected.
Obviously it's not as simple as just 0.61 is broken and 0.62's not, but since they _both_ work on your box that doesn't mean it's not worth trying the upgrade on ours.

Yes sure, My mistake, I didn't read the error carefully enough... I'm sorry for the poor relevance of my comments. Good Luck then, I'm off to the office.

I don't know if this will help anyone who is having issues with cgwd, but if I tried to run it as root (when I was logged in as my normal user) it segfaulted, but if I ran it as the user it all went fine.

I solved it!!
I have a custom xsession and before the lines wich starts compiz/cgwd, u have to add something like
Code:
dbuslaunch="`which dbus-launch 2>/dev/null`"
if [ -n "$dbuslaunch" ] && [ -x "$dbuslaunch" ] && [ -z "$DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS" ];
then
eval `$dbuslaunch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session`
fi

now cgwd is running, still no luck with compiz dbus but doesnt matter.
i hope this helps someone

Still doesn't work 100% for me. The closest I've come to fix it is :
I am running KDE and modified my ~/.xinitrc
Code:
dbus-launch startkde &
xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 8 9 4 5 6 7 10 11"

I also modified my compiz-decorator to
Code:
ddbus-launch compiz --replace gconf &
sleep 2
dbus-launch cgwd

Now I am able to use dbus-monitor & dbus-viewer without them giving me errors. Everything works except cgwd gives me the following two errors and i don't get the minimize, close,etc buttons.
Code:
# dbus-launch cgwd

** (cgwd:7175): WARNING **: Cannot open pixmap

** (cgwd:7175): WARNING **: Cannot open pixmap

Edit: I realized that this error message come from empty pixmap buttons selections in themes, totally normal behavior.

Although I still have no buttons with cgwd or corrupted buttons when I use gnome-window-decorator.
