WARNING:
Do NOT use the latest driver from samsung. Especially if you're using gcc 4.* the samsung driver install program will mess up your permissions!! Better stick with old version or use 1710 driver
Samsung currently does not have any x86_64 gnu/linux drivers atm, x86 setup script does not work.
STEP 1
get your cups working, read gentoo printer guide
STEP 2
get your ML-2010 driver from http://www.samsung.com/support/productsupport/download/index.aspx
extract it.
STEP 3
edit image/scripts/test-libc.sh to this:
STEP 4
run image/setup.data/bin/Linux/x86/glibc-2.1/setup.gtk as root. follow the directions, add the printer, and it should appear on cups just like an another printer.

Note
I think this workaround might work for other printers that uses SPL (Samsung Printer Language) altho I do not own any other samsung printer, so corrent me if I'm wrong. _________________ "Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent" - Marilyn vos Savant

Another option is to use a driver from foomatic - in this case there is no specific driver for the ML-2010 but the ML-1710 driver works fine since they are based upon the "gdi" driver (see this link). So now you can have a GPL'd driver for your printer. |
