Hi

I am trying to set up a SSH tunnel to my gentoo box at home from school, I manage to set it up correctly, but when I connect to localhost with my browser it only shows a white page.
When I connect to localhost with putty I get "Server unexpectedly closed network connection".

My sshd_config:

Code:

#   $OpenBSD: sshd_config,v 1.69 2004/05/23 23:59:53 dtucker Exp $

# This is the sshd server system-wide configuration file.  See
# sshd_config(5) for more information.

# This sshd was compiled with PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin

# The strategy used for options in the default sshd_config shipped with
# OpenSSH is to specify options with their default value where
# possible, but leave them commented.  Uncommented options change a
# default value.

May I ask what method you are using to do this? Just tunneling to your box at home with no proper destination just wont work in my experience. Best advice I can give you is to emerge privoxy which is just a proxy with features to help keep nosy sites from having at your privacy :), you set the endpoint of your tunnel in putty to the port number of your proxy and youre done. All you have to then is set the appropriate proxy server settings in your browser and you are surfing unrestricted :D.

are you trying to use a proxy over SSH tunnel? I do this a lot.

Install Squid at home, tunnel port 3128 to that squid machine at home, and set your browser's proxy. Secured, encrypted proxy to the outside world and nobody can see what you're doing! :D
