Hello,

i just updated my system and had the same problems:
So i unistalled pam_login and emerged shadow.

But now i have a big problem:
My computer hangs when booting:

i get the following messages:
udevd[929]: nss_ldap: failed to bind to LDAP server: ldap://127.0.0.1/: Can't contact LDAP Server

This messages are repeated about twenty times.

This is not surprising, because the LDAP Server runs on the same machine and isn't started yet.

But the root account wasnt stored in LDAP it was a local account.

How can i get my system work again?
Can anyone give me a step-by-step guidace? I dont want to destroy anything, because there are important files on this machine

Sorry for my bad english.

Thanks,
Vogi

Split off from pam-login thread and moved to duplicates.
