|
|
I've neglected my linux partiton for quite a while and am in the process of restarting maintenance there.
I have X (and kde) working but I cannot modify screen settings because xorg.conf is not in /etc/ or in /etc/X11/
If I attempt to generate or manually create an xorg.conf file in /etc/X11, it is read and errors our (but it is at least being read). But once that file is removed X works fine, but its settings cannot be changed.
Clearly, X is defaulting to some settings somewhere when xorg.conf is deleted. Could anyone please suggest how these settings could be found/extracted/copied?
Other factors which may be of relevance are a) that linuxwacom drivers are installed; b) even when xorg.conf did exist and work it was not possible to get a resolution above 800x600 (on a 1280x768 screen).
This is a V2000-series Compaq Presario with a Radeon XPress 200M graphics card.
Once again, any tips on what to do or suggestions on what to investigate are much appreciated.
Cheers. |
