I have an Ultra 2 Workstation with a 4-port SBUS network card. I tried emerging bridge-utils so I can bridge the four together, however found that every package has a missing keyword, so I copied a few ebuilds into my overlay directory. After adding the sparc keyword, 1.0.6 fails with an error of too old SYSFS definitions, however 1.0.4 compiles successfully.
After creating the bridge I lost the ssh connection to the machine, at first I thought it was because I assigned a duplicate IP as on the network, so I changed it to another IP but I still lose the connection to the machine right after the bridge sets it's IP address. Has anyone gotten bridge-utils to work on Sparc? |

Hi,
I can not help you very much, but I can say that I got them running on sparc a time ago.
I use also the 1.0.4 Version.
And I can remember that I had some troubles with them, but I dont know exactly what it
was.
What kernel version do you use? And what sources?
I use currently the vanilla sources 2.6.15.6.

bridge-utils isn't keyworded because in order to work on SPARC64, it needs to be built in 64 bits. As we don't have a working toolchain for 64 bit userland apps, we've refrained from keywording it at this point.
And the downside to this is it means that bridging is a no go. |
