hi.
i wanted to update my gentoo, but after launching
emerge -av system
it returns message like sys-apps/pam-login is blocking sys-apps/shadow.
So how should I continue, if these two packages cant be compiled together, but emerge system still offers it to me and i dont know how to solve it.
thnx |

This has been already discussed here... use the search function! also, the correct way of updating gentoo is: emerge --sync && emerge -uDvaN world |

I agree with ausmusj1.
General rule-of-thumb is to just unmerge the blocking package and let the new one install.
The newer package is usually providing the same service as the blocking package.
