Hello all,
i'm new here and i just finished to install the Gentoo, But i recieve a black screen that's told me "please specify a device to boot or "shell" for shell"
Please help me, how can i run the GUI linux??

Hi!
I guess you didn't enable the boot loader correctly. Boot again with the install CD, then configure your boot laoder again.

If you don't do the grub-install or did it to the wrong device this could happen. _________________ Cheers.

i've tried to install gentoo again and its still with command line, can you tell me please what im doing wrong? |

your bootloader (likely grub) is probably misconfigured. either that or you didn't adapt your /etc/fstab. if you couldn't follow me up to here i strongly suggest you try a different distribution of linux, preferably one of the ubuntus so as not to get the wrong impression of linux in general. if you really really really want to try out gentoo linux we'll of course help you. for that you might want to provide us with the contents of your grub.conf, your fstab and your partition layout.
note: the default installation of gentoo should actually only get you to a "login:" prompt in a text console. X (part of the GUI) has to be configured manually once that is up. _________________ "Confident, lazy, cocky, dead." -- Felix Jongleur, Otherland
