i had to relearn fdisk and it's hideous interface just for the gentoo install. it was worth it, i'll say that much but would it be possible to include something a bit user-friendly? my suggestion would be cfdisk (s'what slackware uses). dunno if it's open source and all that, i cant seem to find it anywhere but iunno.

it's got a really easy to use interface though and i can partition my drive in seconds. it'd also be something for future users to use. they'd pick it up a lot faster than fdisk.

but then theres the whole argument about "gentoo isnt for newbies." ehh... what're ya gonna do.

Think of fdisk as a safety mechanism -- if you can't figure out what to do, then you can't break anything. :)

I guess it's just me, but I find fdisk straight forward to use. I don't know what all the fuss about fdisk being difficult to use is about. :?

Hm, I'd like it better if Gentoo sticks with fdisk. It's a simple, straight-forward tool for partitioning.

And (no flame intended):
It would be nice to add vi to the ISO (not replacing nano, but both of them). The ISO is pretty small anyway, so adding vi wouldn't be a problem I guess. /me thinks that quite a lot of the Gentoo users already have some *NIX experience, and these people often seem to like vi.

And it would save me the trouble to have :wq at the end of my configfiles ;)

I agree to a point. It'd be nice to have cfdisk in addition to fdisk.

We have flogged this beast to death. There is NO value gained by continuing to kick a dead horse.
