I am playing around with KDE for a while now and I am using Kontact as my PIM (emerged via kdepim-meta).
Kontact was rock-solid and never crashed.
This evening I emerged kdeaddons-meta and all of a sudden, Kontact (or Kmail as stand-alone program) are constantly crashing, whenever I try to do something. Not usefull error messages:

I removed kdeaddons-meta but the problems remains (even after logout/login, even after reboot).
Help please.

No help on this forum.
After two days of searches on the Internet, I came around a message (dated back in 2004) on a Fedora mailing list,
suggesting to check if there is a stale lock file in ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/.
Found indeed a lock file in that place, removed it and ... Kontackt/Kmail works again without crash. |
