My problem is the following:

I want multiple windows computers to access files beeing on my gentoo box. They should be allowed to read, write and delete, but each file should only be accessed by one computer at a time.

Samba could kinda solve this problem, but its not that secure. It's possible to tunnel through ssh, but the windows users are not really good with computers...

Is there any good client-server program that can solve this problem neatly? I.e. windows users map a network drive and then use it like a normal harddisk? Like samba, but secure...

I've been looking for something similar. There is a windows client for the coda file system, but I haven't tried it. I've heard good things about the fs in general, but I don't know if the windows client is stable etc. I haven't tried it yet because I'm trying to figure out how I can use it on my dual-booting laptop without using twice the hd space by having both OS caching the files.
