Hi,

I am trying to update my system here but for some reason apmd is trying to use a directory that doesnt exist in my system:

i386-pc-linux-gnu-g++: /usr/lib/gcc/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/../../../crti.o: No such file or directory
i386-pc-linux-gnu-g++: /usr/lib/gcc/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/crtbeginS.o: No such file or directory
i386-pc-linux-gnu-g++: /usr/lib/gcc/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/crtendS.o: No such file or directory
i386-pc-linux-gnu-g++: /usr/lib/gcc/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/../../../crtn.o: No such file or directory

I have /usr/lib/gcc/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/ and all files that it can't link are there. I am running a "emerge -u --deep world". My gcc is 3.4.5-r1.

does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks for any help!

This topic discusses exactly the same problem with apmd. There are a couple of suggested solutions in there, so I hope it gives you the solution.

re-emerge libtool then fixlibtool_files.sh 3.4 should fix it up.

btw: It's "fix_libtool_files.sh"

Thanks! Doing it now. I had a similar problem some time ago that I had to reinstall some libraries. I have done so many changes to my gentoo lately I guess I should just waste one full day and re-emerge it all. Thanks for your help!

I had the exact same problem and fixed it by re-emerging libtool. I did not need to run fix_libtool_files.sh

Moved from Portage & Programming to Duplicate Threads in favour of jpeg-6b-r4 fails to compile, fix_libtool_files.sh is no help.
