Not sure if this is a Gentoo or GRUB issue but here it goes:
I have a USB keyboard/mouse combo (Wireless Optical by Logitech) which works just fine in Gentoo and can be seen by my BIOS as well. Hence I am able to use it right away while it's booting to change BIOS settings as well as in Gentoo. The problem comes in at the GRUB screen. I am unable to select an item from the GRUB menu. I must resort to using a seperate PS/2 keyboard solely for GRUB usage. Has anyone else come across this? Any fixes available? Should I get a new GRUB version? If so what is the installation procedure? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. |

grub and usb should work find -- grub looks to the BIOS for keyboard information and, AFAIK, it doesn't care if it's usb, ps2 or AT. So, you may have a bug or misconfiguration in your BIOS. Check your BIOS to make sure your keyboard is defined as a USB one.
Also, search google. There are quite a few hits that came up.

Got it!!!
That was actually one of the first things I checked after looking at the Google search results. So I looked in my BIOS and there was no option for that. So for kicks I upgraded my BIOS and there it was! I enabled USB Keyboard support and is well.
Thanks Kurt, your help is appreciated.
