I'm running gentoo for about a month now and got everything to work pretty nice. Howere I have a very annoying problem with my USB memory stick. When I plug it in I can mount and access the drive normally, but after a minute or less, it becomes extremely slow(can't copy any faster as 14 KiB/s or so). I already tried searching the forum, disabling sync etc. but nothing seems to help. Anyone knows what the problem might be? Problem is occuring with every stick and they al work fine under windows so...

This is my dmesg output:

Code:

Already tried 3 different kernels, all gentoo-sources: 2.6.15-r1, 2.6.16-r3 and 2.6.16-r5

If you use HAL, try this :

Edit this file "/usr/share/hal/fdi/90defaultpolicy/storage-policy.fdi" and put it :
Quote:

<merge key="volume.policy.mount_option.sync" type="bool">false</merge>

just after :
Code:

<match key="volume.fstype" string="vfat">

EDIT : Have you ever looked this thraed ? :
