hi,
I just recompiled my kernel. it was previously gentoo-sources 2.4.19-r9 and changed it to gentoo-sources 2.4.20-r2. I compiled the new kernel with the same settings as the previous kernel and everything. nothing else was changed. after compiling i copy it over to the new bzimage and reboot. the scsi modules load w/o any problems but my cdr is not where it should be. instead of being in /dev/scsi/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd it is in /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd. if i go back to 2.4.19-r9 version then scsi is where it should be. does anyone know what else i can attempt to get this to work right on 2.4.20-r2? _________________ do you think animals believe in god? |

Let me guess:
You have IDE CD support compiled into the kernel and want to enable SCSI emulation by adding hdx=ide-scsi to the kernel command line?
There seems to be a bug in gentoo-sources, since a kernel compiled with the Gentoo patches ignores its command line. See this post.
I use ck-sources now and everything works fine. |
