|

So, for a while now I've been missing the ability to list all available versions of a package, which is something I *used* to be able to do with . This afternoon I decided to do some searching to find out what replaced that functionality, but all I can find is a bunch of documents (mostly the same) which say that equery will eventually replace etcat. I guess that since etcat's not in gentoolkit anymore, that replacement has happened. But based on , etcat -v may as well have been replaced with gcc, tar, or some other program.
So, how in the heck can I get a list of, say, all of the possible versions of ksh? Maybe there's a beta version that actuallly compiles, maybe the last stable version works, maybe I just like wasting my time trying to build the stupid thing. "Look it up at packages.gentoo.org" isn't exactly the most convenient option, either, since I'm not real big on waiting for a bunch of images to download when I should already have a local listing of stuff somewhere anyway... However, "open up this file and read it" would be an acceptable solution, in lieu of a program to do it for me. |

Code: | equery l -p -e <package> |
should list all available versions of <package>. _________________ Adopt an unanswered post

That did it. Thanks.
I've filed a bug report (bug 132192) suggesting a means of making that more discoverable. All along I thought that "local opts" was just some to-be-completed thing, not that there were actually options. Sigh. |
