Yesterday I updated my gcc from 3.4.5 to 4.1.0.
I've compiled my toolkit twice by running emerge -e system.

So this morning i woke up and decided to check the progress. It was still compiling. So i checked /var/log/portage
and noticed it was the fourth run. I didn't give much notice to this.

So i decided to remerge all my packages by running emerge -e world. I' ve let it run for a couple of hours and noticed
it was compiling gcc again (must be the 7th time or so, guess it'll be quite consistent by now...) so i started to question
miself what was going wrong.

After some digging i noticed that everytime i ran emerge -e system or emerge -e world, portage was included. This caused the compile to get stuck in a infinite loop.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to succesfully recompile my whole system with the new compiler without me getting stuck in this infinite loop?
