I get a nice error when the user gentoo should auto login to start the installation.
Any idea?

You could try using the nox option to just skip the login manager and gnome. Other than having dillo to browse with instead of links, (links -g actually), I didn't really find any advantage to using the full gui.
You might also take the option to verify the cd to be sure that it got burned correctly. (I assume you verified the md5sum of the downloaded image already)
