# emerge -p world
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies
*** Package in world file is not installed: kde-base/kde ...done!
I unmerged and emerged this package about a week ago. I have done a rsync, emerge world and emerge clean. And still same thing.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Ken |

It looks like emerge is telling you that kde is in your world file but is not installed on your system. If this is the case then you can either emerge kde or edit /var/cache/edb/world and remove the kde entry. _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |

If I remove it from the world file will I cause propblems for portage in the future? |

No future problems. The world file is to let you design your own custom system. It keeps track of all the packages you explicitly emerged. It is designed for you to edit it.
If you want to have kde part of your system again, just emerge it, the kde line will get put back in your world file and emerge will know to update it when you run an "emerge -u world" after a newer version of kde comes out. _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |
