I just installed Gentoo and have KDE up and running. I have cups enabled in USE flags and I have cups emerged, I have an HP932c desktop printer, I believe it is a standard parallel printer. I think anyway. I enabled parallel and pc parallel support in the kernel. What do I need to do to set up printing? thanks |

Hi Drayco,
I'm not 100% sure about this (not at my Gentoo box right now) but if you're running KDE, there should be a KDE Control Center menu item for setting up printers that will work with CUPS.
Failing this, you could try opening up a browser and putting http://localhost:631 in the address bar. This should bring up the CUPS web interface (you may need to enter the root password to access the page) that you can use to install and configure printers. HTH.
Regards,
Lucas |

Read the Gentoo Printing Guide. Then come back here if that doesn't work.

Ok, thanks, I am amazed at the amount of good documentation on this site, I promise to search for the documentation before I post in the future |
