So I've been working on getting Gentoo installed on my beige G3, and thanks to the great help of Wormo, I was able to get a few steps closer. Thinking that something is wrong with my cd drive, I managed to copy the image cd into a seperate partition on the G3's hard drive, and then in BootX set the root to /dev/hda8 (the location of the files). It boots the terminal alright now, until I get this message:
ext2fs_check_ifmount: no such file or directory while determining whether /dev/hdb8 is mounted.
fsk.ext3: No such device or address while trying to open /dev/hdb8
Possibly non-existent or swap device?
Since I don't have any other hard drive besides hda, I don't know where hdb came from. Anyone have any ideas? If you specify some info that you'll need I'll try to accomodate, though it has been so long I might have a little trouble trying to remember/figure things out. Thanks a bunch in advance! |
