Hi,

I'm getting a syntax error with aboot. I get:

Code:

aboot: valid disklabel found: 8 partitions.
aboot: syntax error in line 213: `:' expected
aboot: loading uncompressed ...
aboot: loading compressed ...

unzip: unknown compression method
Welcome to aboot 1.0_pre20040408

Then I get the "help" list of commands. At this point I can type in the contents of aboot.conf (I only have one line) substituting the aboot command b for 0:, and the system boots without a problem. Here is the line:

Code:

b 2/vmlinux.gz root=/dev/rd/c0d1p4 initrd=/initrd-2.6.10.img

Anyone encounter this before?

Thanks,
Doug

I am experiencing the same pains. I have been trolling these forums for some time, but just recently registered when I saw this post. If someone knows the solution to this problem I would be very grateful.
my aboot.conf line is:
0:2/root/vmlinux.gz root=/dev/hda2
and I am able to boot the system by typing:
b 2/root/vmlinux.gz root=/dev/hda2

Thanks!

Good luck Phanny! I never got an answer (from any source). Unfortunately, I don't have my DEC anymore.

Regards,
Doug
