|
|
I have an old Ultra10 with a type6 keyboard (non usb of course). I was able to configure the mouse based on info in this forum but I can't get the keyboard to function. Before running X -config xorg.conf.test, the CapsLock, NumLock, etc LEDs function. However after I fireup my test X session these LED's do not work. I'm also stuck at the grey&black stipple screen with a working mouse but no cntrl-alt-delete ability to kill X. I have to power down my system.
This is what I have for my keyboard config:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "Protocol" "Standard"
Option "XkbModel" "type6"
Option "XkbRules" "sun"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
EndSection
Can someone help me get my keyboard working. Thanks _________________ T.L.Bowers

I ment shift-cntrl-backspace....
LOL, i can't believe I said cntrl-alt-del. Anyway...it looks as the keyboard under X is not working at all. _________________ T.L.Bowers

|
|
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "kbd"
Option "Protocol" "Standard"
Option "XkbKeycodes" "sun(type5)"
Option "XkbModel" "type5"
Option "XkbRules" "sun"
Option "XkbLayout" "en_US"
Option "XkbTypes" "types/complete"
Option "XkbCompat" "compat/complete"
Option "XkbGeometry" "sun(type5unix)"
EndSection
After testing all the keys it appears that PrintScreen sets the Scroll Lock and 5 on the Number pad controls Caps Lock. So it appears the keys are all jumbled. _________________ T.L.Bowers

First, a type6 should be called type5 (no, I don't know why). Then, correct keyboard layout depends on your kernel; check http://dev.gentoo.org/~fmccor/docs/xorg/xorg.conf/xorg.conf.html for a couple working examples (one for kernel-2.4.xx series; one for 2.6.xx series).
Hope this helps,

Yup, looks like the keyboard works now. I can also kill the Xserver with cntrl-alt-backspace now.
